After Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, former cricketer Shahid Afridi has placed his support behind the Taliban, claiming that the terror group has risen to power with a "positive mindset." They have, arrived with a really upbeat attitude. They've made it possible for women to work. They provide kids the opportunity to participate in politics. They are fans of cricket... And I believe the Taliban are big fans of cricket " Afridi told media.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khand has previously shown sympathy for the Taliban. In July, before the terror outfit forcefully took over the Afghanistan government, Khan said the Taliban are not some "military outfits but normal civilians", and asked how the country was supposed to hunt them down when it had three million Afghan refugees at the border.

Khan stated in a television interview that Pakistan is home to three million Afghan refugees, the majority of them are Pashtuns, the same ethnic group as the Taliban militants. "There are now camps with 500,000 people and camps with 100,000 people. And the Taliban are not a military force; they are ordinary citizens. And, if civilians are present in these camps, how is Pakistan meant to track them down? What makes you think they're sanctuaries?
