On Saturday, Karnataka police detained a Kannada film producer and actor on charges of raping a co-star under the guise of a marriage commitment. Harshavardhan a.k.a Vijayabhargav is the person who was arrested. The accused produced and starred in the Kannada film 'Vision 2023.' The complainant co-star alleged that she had a two-year acquaintance with the accused. She said that after promising to marry her, he sexually abused her for two years.
When the co-star persisted on getting married, the producer threatened her with consequences. The producer had inquired as to why he should marry his co-star. The actress has filed a complaint with the Annapoorneshwari police station in this respect.
The police have filed a case under sections 417 (cheating), 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult and provocation), and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (criminal intimidation). In addition, the detectives have gathered digital, material, and physical evidence. Medical testing was done on the victim. The alleged producer has been taken into custody by the police. An investigation into the matter is now underway.
