Threads to Implement Limits to Drop down Spam amid Aholic Users

New Delhi:- Threads, a popular microblogging platform launched earlier this month by Facebook parent company Meta, will introduce a rate cap following an increase in spam attacks against the platform. Price caps put an artificial cap on the number of times a user can interact with the platform over a period of time, and competitor Twitter announced a similar cap earlier this month for the same purpose.

Meanwhile, the initial excitement around the Threads app appears to have worn off, with the app still lacking key features from other platforms, which has led to a significant drop in the number of daily active users of the app. was reported.

In a post on Threads on Monday, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said spam attacks against the platform were "increasing" and that the service needed to "be more stringent about things like rate limits."

However, similar to Twitter's recent introduction of rate limits, this decision could prevent active users from accessing the service. However, Mosseri added that users can provide feedback on false positives if corporate protections ultimately limit user activity.

After its blockbuster debut, Threads' daily active user count seems to be declining. SimilarWeb's data, verified by analytics platform Sensor Tower, showed 49 million daily active users on July 7, but a week later, on July 14, the app had 23.6 million active users (on Android).

In addition to the dwindling freshness of new apps, Meta's decision to block access for EU users via VPN may also have resulted in a significant drop in active users.

Despite Threads' reported decline in active users, the platform already has about a fifth of competitor Twitter's weekly active user base, according to Data.ai. The company also said Threads had the highest demand in India, accounting for 33% of the app's global downloads, followed by Brazil and the US.

Unlike other social media and microblogging services, Threads lacks some key features that were missing when the service launched earlier this month. This includes direct messages (DMs), the ability to search for text within posts, and a chronological timeline.

These features are still in development, but messaging, improved search capabilities, and the ability to see trends and topics are coming to the platform soon, according to a leaked note confirmed by Business Insider.

Meta threads is now limiting the user as per the time that it should be on the platform as the users can face spam coming in. The limitations set by Meta can help the users to get rid of the spam that will be reported on the platform and it is as similar as Twitter did.
