Chandigarh: Upset over the action against Amritpal Singh, the head of pro-Khalistani organization 'Waris Punjab De', Khalistani supporters have threatened to kill the daughter of Punjab Cheif Minister Bhagwant Mann in the US. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has asked the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's daughter Seerat Kaur.

"Read reports of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's daughter receiving death threats in the US. This is an act of cowardice. I request the Indian Embassy in the US to ensure her's safety. A few days ago, a Patiala-based lawyer had claimed that some Khalistan supporters called up Seerat Kaur, daughter of Bhagwant Mann, who is living in the US, abused her and threatened to kill her. After this, lawyer Harmeet Brar had told the Khalistanis, 'Will you get Khalistan by threatening and abusing children? You are going to achieve Khalistan by threatening and abusing children in this way. Such people are a blot on Sikhism. '

Bhagwant Mann's ex-wife Inderpreet Kaur Grewal lives in the US with her daughter Seerat Kaur (21) and son Dilshan (18). Inderpreet has also confirmed the incident. Seerat Kaur Mann's childhood was spent in Punjab and Chandigarh. She moved to the US in 2015 after her parents Bhagwant Mann and Inderpreet Kaur separated.
