Raipur: On Thursday, at least three Naxalite women were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh. The clash occurred in the Maad forest region, located along the border between Narayanpur and Kanker districts, a known hotspot for Maoist activity.

The confrontation unfolded early in the morning, starting around 8 am. The exchange of fire between the Naxalites and the security forces continued sporadically throughout the day. The encounter was part of a larger search operation initiated based on intelligence reports about Maoist activities in the Mand region, which sits at the junction of Narayanpur and Kanker districts.

P. Sundarraj, the Inspector General of Bastar, provided details about the operation, stating, "During the search, an encounter between the police party and Maoists has been ongoing since 0800 hours this morning." He assured that all security personnel involved in the operation are safe and confirmed that the search operation is still active.

The ongoing operation aims to address and curb Maoist influence in the area, with further details about the encounter and its broader implications expected to be released as the situation develops.
