Cairo: The Suez Canal Authority announced on Sunday that Egypt had sent three tug boats to tow an oil tanker that had experienced an engine failure.

Osama Rabie, the head of the canal, stated that once the tugboats have moved the tanker, normal traffic will resume in the north.

According to Refinitiv Eikon shipping data, the crude tanker SEAVIGOUR was constructed in 2016 and is registered under the Maltan flag.

The canal authority further stated that it was travelling from Russia to China. Technical issues frequently cause traffic disruptions, but the delays are typically only temporary.

A bulk carrier that had been stuck in the Suez Canal for several hours was able to be moved by tugboats less than two weeks prior.
