The Periyar National Park, one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in South India, is one of the few sanctuaries in the world that are full of bio-biodiversity. Apart from its lush greenery and panoramic views, the sanctuary is also famous for its living beings. This national park is spread over 305 square kilometers. Periyar and Pamba rivers flow from within it. It is home to elephants, tigers, various reptiles, deer, etc., as well as birds that are constantly chirping in the forests.

It is a place that, on the one hand, gives peace of mind, and on the other hand, gives an opportunity to be one with nature. This dense forest, which has been a hunting ground for the kings of Travancore in the past, is now under the Government of India. In 1978, when it was taken under project tiger by the Government of India, it was renamed as 'Periyar Tiger Reserve'. Periyar is known as the lifeline of Kerala and the River Pamba is considered to be very sacred because of the Sabarimala Temple. The water of these rivers extends from the animals of this national park to small plants.

The park contains 35 major mammal sand, many of which are endangered. There are 40 Bengal tigers recently spotted, which is a matter of pride for any sanctuary. The major animals are elephants, white tigers, flying steers, sambar deer, gaud, Nilgiri langur, bears, and wild cats. 266 species of birds can be seen in this park. Periyar National Park is also famous for its diversity. There are 45 types of reptiles, including coral sneakers, Malabar pit vipers, and cobras.

People interested in animals have been wandering here for months to study their behavior. It is a unique experience to observe the activities of these animals from the guest house rooms of the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, which is impossible to find elsewhere. Bookings can be made by visiting the website of KTDC to stay in the periyar tiger reserve. Who doesn't want to enjoy riding boats on the water surface in the calm lake. So, tourists visiting this place do boating in Periyar Lake.

The main reason behind this is the lake being located in the middle of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The animals of the sanctuary can also be seen making full use of the lake. The wild animals around the lake will be seen drinking water, playing hard and relaxing. Elephant herds are often seen on the banks of this lake. The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation runs a boat to visit the lake five times a day.

The two-hour journey gives you the wonderful beauty of wildlife. The Department of Tourism is very sensitive to the environment and safety of the passengers. Because of this, lakes, forests, etc., remain plastic-free. A large number of tourists visit the place, so boating tickets are hit. Tickets online can be booked in advance with a little more money, otherwise, you may face a long line at the counter.

This sanctuary is located in Tekri where one can be visited throughout the year. But the monsoon and soon after, the beauty of the place is amazing. When North India is shrinking from the cold, the light heat has started here in those days. The nearest airport to Takdi is the Cochin International Airport and the railway station is Aluva. It is transported by bus or taxi too. Both public and private buses ply here. All types of hotels and lodges are available for lodging.
