The counting of the ballot of the in Assam’s Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) polls is underway. The counting has today since 8 am. According to the initial trends, The ruling BJP is leading ahead in most of the seats in Assam’s Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) polls. Initial trends on the BJP is leading in 18 of the 35 seats it contested while the Congress is trailing in all 36 seats. The AGP, an ally of the BJP, is ahead in one seat.

Polling for 36 TAC constituencies in parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro) held on Thursday. A total of 124 candidates were in the fray in the council election. The saffron party is contesting in 35 council seats while its ally AGP has contested in one seat and Congress is contesting in all 36 seats.

TAC polls ended peacefully on Thursday evening. According to the Assam State Election Commission, the turnout of voters was approximately 71%. The counting of ballots will start from 8 am on Saturday (December 19). The TAC polls were held in the Council areas falling in four districts, namely Kamrup (Metro), Nagaon, Morigaon, and Hojai. The turnout was slightly low in the Amri Karbi-dominated areas within Kamrup (M) as they opposed the polls.
