Panaji: Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday promised a direct cash transfer scheme for women in Goa saying the scheme will be implemented if the party comes to power after the proposed assembly elections in February next year. 5,000/- per month will be provided to women.

TMC leader and MP Mahua Moitra said the scheme has been named 'Griha Lakshmi'. He said that 5,000 rupees per month will be transferred directly to a woman from each household to her account. He said his party will soon start distributing cards among the beneficiaries of the scheme. The card will have an identification number and will be implemented once the TMC comes to power.

The Mamata Banerjee-led party has announced that it will contest all the 40 assembly seats in the state.  Mahua, goa co-in-charge of Trinamool Congress, said, "Women from 3.5 lakh households in the state will be linked to the Grihalakshmi scheme and the maximum income system will not be applicable to the scheme, which is included in the BJP government's existing Home Aadhaar scheme.''
