Kolkata: Reacting to the meeting between West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly, the BJP has said that Sourav will not object if he is made a Rajya Sabha MP on behalf of TMC. Reacting to Mamata and Sourav Ganguly's meeting, BJP state unit president Dilip Ghosh said he would not object if Sourav Ganguly is made a Rajya Sabha MP from TMC as even if Mamata Banerjee has gone on Sourav's birthday, a politician cannot quit politics.
In fact, yesterday Mamata Banerjee reached Sourav Ganguly's house and wished him a happy birthday. The market for speculation has been hot since this meeting. With two Rajya Sabha seats lying vacant in Bengal, speculations are rife that Mamata Banerjee met Sourav only to make Sourav Ganguly a Rajya Sabha MP on behalf of the TMC, though no one has officially made any statement on the subject yet.
This is the first time in so many years that Mamata Banerjee arrived at Sourav Ganguly's residence. Mamata Banerjee has been wishing Sourav a happy birthday before but never came home. As soon as the news came out yesterday that Mamata Banerjee was going to Sourav's house, there has been speculation that Sourav may be offered a big offer from TMC. Mamata Banerjee arrived at Sourav's residence at 5.00 pm yesterday and spent about 45 minutes with Sourav in his house.
