Panaji: Ahead of the Goa assembly elections, the state unit of Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday wrote to the Election Commission, demanding strict action against the leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as the Congress for allegedly violating corona protocol. TMC Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer demanding strict action against BJP leaders and members.

The TMC MP has alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and others violated the Covid protocol during the election campaign in the Sanvordem assembly constituency on January 30. The TMC has also accused Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of breaking the corona protocol. In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, the TMC said, "Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others have violated Covid norms in their election campaign in Navelim assembly constituency on February 7."

The BJP on Tuesday released its manifesto for the February 14 Assembly elections in Goa, promising to make Goa a $50 billion economy in the next 10 years. At the same time, they also pledged to give three cylinders of LPG free of cost to each family, start mining activities and housing for all. The BJP in its manifesto said, "We will provide social welfare benefits to the poor in a time-bound manner and through direct cash transfers. We will increase the amount of old-age pension under Deen Dayal healthcare scheme to Rs 3,000 per month."
