Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and noted Bengali film actress Nusrat Jahan has said that she was married to businessman Nikhil Jain in Turkey, which is invalid according to Indian law. Let us tell you that this is the first time Nusrat has broken her silence on her separation from Nikhil Jain. Nusrat said in her statement that she is on Indian soil, so the wedding ceremony is invalid under the Turkish Marriage Regulation. He further said that it was an interfaith marriage, which was not recognized under the Special Marriage Act of India.

Lok Sabha MP from Basirhat in North 24 Parganas Nusrat Jahan said that 'According to the court, it was not a marriage but a live-in relationship so there is no question of divorce'. She informed that the two had parted ways a long time ago but did not say anything about it because of her desire to keep her personal life to herself. She says she should not be questioned on the basis of 'separation'.

She alleged without naming him that he (Nikhil Jain) misused her bank accounts and her funds without her knowledge. She said she is still talking to the bank in this regard and will also give evidence if required. Nusrat also said that her clothes, jewellery, purse sand some property were no longer with her.
