Kolkata: After the arrest of former minister Partha Chatterjee in the much-talked-about teacher's recruitment scam (SSC scam) in West Bengal, TMC strongman Anubrata Mondal in the cow smuggling case and now the arrest of Halishahr municipality chairman Raju Sahni, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has come into defensive mode, while the leaders of the opposition party are constantly attacking the Mamata Banerjee government on the issue of corruption.
The 'Chor Dharo, Jail Bharo' campaign is being run by CPM and BJP across Bengal. TMC leaders have been rattled by the opposition's attack and are constantly making controversial statements. TMC Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy has once again made a controversial statement saying that those who call TMC a thief will be hit on the back. Earlier, in the meeting of the TMC Student Council, CM Mamata Banerjee had threatened that if she did not stay in the post of Chief Minister, she would tell the sisters to pull the tongue of those who speak thieves.
At the same time, in an event, Saugata Roy said, ''If you speak against corruption, we have no objection. I have no problem with Partha Chatterjee but don't make the mistake of saying that everyone in TMC is a thief. If you say so, you will be hit on the back. Don't insult Mamata Banerjee by taking her name. If they call her the queen of corruption, then these things can provoke our boys and they get angry, then I can't say what they will do?"
