Kolkata: The news of the death of 40-year-old Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker Humayun Kabir is coming to light in Shamsherganj area of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. He died on Saturday night due to a blast while making indigenous bombs on the roof of the house. His ten-year-old son has also been injured in the incident. However, TMC claims that none of its workers is involved in the incident.

Sub-divisional police officer (Jangipur) Prasenjit Banerjee said, "Initial investigations suggest that Kabir was making bombs on the roof of his house. A bomb accidentally fell and he got injured badly. His minor son was also injured. Police started the investigation, but no arrests have been made so far. Locals told the police that Kabir worked as a labourer in a bidi factory. They heard the sound of a loud bang around 9 pm on Saturday night. They reached Kabir's house and found him soaked in blood. Kachinur Beva, the mother of the deceased, told that "Kabir went to the terrace after having dinner. Detonated within minutes".

Officials at Shamserganj police station have said that Kabir had been arrested earlier and had a criminal record. He alleged that the family removed the bomb-making material from the spot to erase the evidence. However, the mother of the deceased has refuted all the allegations. She has said, "My son was not involved in any criminal activity. We suspect that someone has thrown a bomb at our house. Police is currently investigating the entire case".
