Chennai: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin,  honoured the women police officer E. Rajeswari on Friday for saving a man during the Chennai rains. In the presence of senior state police officers, Stalin honoured Rajeswari at his camp office. He expressed his gratitude in a message, saying that she had recognised the importance of the 'golden hour' and had hurried Udhaykumar to the hospital.

The Chief Minister praised the officer's sense of commitment and compassion, as well as her action in rescuing several people during a stampede in Mahamaham, Kumbakonam, in 1992. "On countless times, your activities have lent a helping hand to the disadvantaged. Your repeated deeds of rescuing needy women and admitting them to government homes, as well as your bravery in confronting lawbreakers, have earned you plaudits from senior police officials and the general public "he stated

Stalin further stated that Rajeswari's prompt action had earned the Tamil Nadu police praise and enhanced their reputation. "I express my congratulations for your humanitarian deed," he said, "as the Chief Minister who also oversees the Police Department and as someone who visited the people continually during natural catastrophes to enquire about their needs." She and her crew hurried to a cemetery in Kilpauk after learning that a person had been discovered behind a fallen tree.
