The State Excise Department is preparing to send this proposal to the government before the implementation of the new excise policy for the next financial year. It is hoped that if the tax is reduced, the smuggling of illicit liquor coming from Chandigarh to Himachal Pradesh can be reduced. With this, at present, the sale of various categories of liquor bottles in the state can also reach 1.50 crore from 75 lakh.

The top officials claim that the curbing of smuggling of liquor from Chandigarh will be stopped after the reduction of tax and strictness on smuggling. With this, the sale of liquor in the state will increase from 75 lakh to 1.50 crore. Principal Secretary Excise Sanjay Kundu said that a proposal can be made in this regard so that revenue can be increased in the state.
