India is all stake dispersal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 today. It looks like Neeraj Chopra may end the Olympic gold medal drought for India in the javelin throw. Neeraj was born on December 24, 1997, at the house of a small farmer in Khandra village of Panipat district of Haryana. Neeraj studied from Chandigarh. Neeraj won 86 of the IAAF World U-20 Championship held in Poland in 2016. He won gold by throwing a spear 48 meters away, after which he was appointed as a junior commissioned officer in the Army. After getting a job from the Army, Neeraj had said in an interview, "My father is a farmer and mother is a housewife and I live in a joint family. Nobody in my family has a government job. So everyone is happy for me. He further said, "Now I can continue my practice as well as provide financial assistance to my family.
Neeraj won the gold medal by throwing 88.06 m at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018. Neeraj is the first Indian to win gold at the Asian Games. India has so far won only two medals in javelin throws in the history of asian games. Before Neeraj, Gurtej Singh had won a bronze medal in 1982. Neeraj suffered a shoulder injury after excelling at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018. Because of this, he stayed away from the game for a long time. 2019 was even worse for them and after that many programs were canceled due to corona. Neeraj then broke his own national record by throwing 88.07 meters at the Indian Grand Prix held in March this year. This was Neeraj's best performance ever.
