How much gold in a gold medal ?
Players at the Tokyo Olympics will be given gold medals. It must be actually made of silver. Only 6 grams of gold has been used to prepare a 556-gram gold medal. Gold has been plating on this medal. The last time players were awarded real gold medals at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. According to the International Olympic association's current guideline, the gold medal should contain at least 6 grams of gold. That is, silver is the most part of the medal. Also, the medals should be at least 60 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick. The silver medal that will be awarded to the athletes at the Tokyo Olympics will weigh 550 grams. On the other hand, the bronze medal will weigh 450 grams. 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc are used to produce bronze medals.
