New Delhi: Tokyo Olympics Games 2020 has started on Friday (July 23, 2021). The second day of the Mahakumbh of the Games was a mixed one for India. First, Mirabai Chanu gave India a silver medal with a stellar performance. In tennis, Sumit Nagal secured his place in the second round. The Indian hockey team also won the Olympics.

India's Sumit Nagal has won his first match in the men's singles event. Sumit has advanced to the next round by defeating Uzbekistan's player. Sumit put up a brilliant performance to beat Istomin Dennis 6-4 6-7 6-4. Sumit Nagal is the third Indian player to win the men's singles in tennis at the Olympics and the first Indian to do so in the last 25 years.

Indian shooter Sourav came back well after trailing in the opening round of the 10m air pistol and topped the series. Sourav scored 95 in the first series, but then came back to score 98-98 points in the second and third series. His performance in the fourth series was excellent and he scored the perfect 100, which no other shooter could do. Sourav then scored 98 and 97 respectively in the fifth and sixth series. Sourav thus topped the list with 586, beating the world's best shooters. With this, he had secured his place in the final, but failed to win a medal in the final and finished 7th and ended his Olympic journey.
