Hollywood icon Tom Hanks, who has delivered blockbusters like Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Philadelphia, and Sleepless in Seattle faced a rather embarrassing situation at a music festival recently. The 62-year-old was denied beer during a recent trip to the Stagecoach festival after he failed to produce an ID proof.

According to reports, the star attended the country music festival which took places in Indio, California last month. His wife, Rita Wilson was also performing at the festival.

Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Tom Hanks shared the experience of having been refused beer by a bartender who insisted to see some identification. I stood up and said, ‘Serve me a draw!’” he continued. ‘And they said, ‘We can’t. Your ID has not been verified,’” Hanks told Ellen DeGeneres during the talk show. Hanks added the bartenders told him to visit another stand to get his ID verified before he could be served alcohol.

“But I must give credit to these ladies, they did not crave. I was offering them tickets to stuff – ‘You will come to the Toy Story premiere with me, just go like that with a red Solo cup underneath and let me walk away with a beer.’” Said Hanks.

Even when Hanks told the bartenders his wife is performing in the festival, he was denied alcohol. This led to a 20-minute argument between him and the bar staff.

“Oh, I argued with them for 20 minutes! I said, ‘Honestly, do you not have eyes? Explain this to me, I don’t understand! My wife’s performing in that tent in 15 minutes.’” said Hanks. However, the night ended on a cheerful note for the actor who was given a wristband that allowed him to buy alcohol.
