LONDON: Tottenham has sacked their caretaker coach Cristian Stellini in the wake of their 6-1 humiliation to Newcastle United.
After Antonio Conte departed the team at the end of March, the Italian had only been in the position for a month. However, the man, who had served as Conte's assistant on the team, has now left the organisation like his former boss.

Tottenham lost 5-0 to Newcastle on the road on Sunday after just 21 minutes, and the setback puts them six points behind the top four and puts them in jeopardy of falling outside the top six, as per Xinhua report.
Ryan Mason, a former player, will now serve as the interim manager until the end of the current season, much as he did in 2021 upon Jose Mourinho's dismissal.

In a statement issued on Monday, Tottenham's chairman Daniel Levy accepted responsibility for Stellini's hiring and subsequent dismissal.

The performance against Newcastle on Sunday was completely awful. It was awful to witness. There are various reasons why it occurred, and while I, the board, the coaches, and the players must all accept responsibility collectively, in the end, the blame lies with me, he wrote.

"Cristian (Stellini) and his coaching staff will leave their positions. I want to thank Cristian for taking over during a trying period in our season and for the professional way that he and his coaching staff carried themselves through it. He and his crew have our best wishes. "Ryan Mason will begin serving as head coach immediately. Ryan is well-versed in the team and its members. In due course, we'll provide more information on his coaching staff," he continued.

Tottenham will host fourth-placed Manchester United on Thursday in their next match, which is another crucial one for their UEFA Champions League aspirations.
