THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the number of Covid cases decreases, tourism centres in Kerala are springing up.
In Kerala, where there were 50,000 daily Covid-19 cases not long ago, the situation has now improved, with only 4,069 new cases reported on Monday out of 42,700 samples analysed, according to a statement from State Health Minister Veena George.
For the time being, the Covid worry appears to have melted, with schools operating to full strength for the first time since March 2020 on Monday. As a result, visitors centres are opening up one by one. The overall number of active cases in the state was 58,932, with 6.2 percent of the patients receiving treatment in various hospitals.
On Monday, 11 more Covid deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 64,273. On the vaccine front, 100 percent (2.69 crore) have received one dose, with 86 percent (2.29 crore) having received both doses. Similarly, 76 percent (11.66 lakh) of those aged 15 to 18 years have received one dose, while 25 percent (3.78 lakh) have received their second dose.
