Due to this, the tourism business of Assam has suffered heavily. According to an estimate, the tourism of the state has lost about 1 thousand crore rupees due to the performance.

In his statement, Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Jayant Malla Barua told reporters that the sector was badly affected in December and is going to happen in January also. He said that because of this demonstration, local tourists, as well as tourists coming from the abroad, have also stopped coming because many countries have issued advisory for the passengers due to the protests. The best season of tourism in Assam is considered from December to March.

Apart from this, Barua said that the tourism sector has been badly affected due to the violence during the protests and there may be a loss of about 500 crore rupees in December, January. He said that due to this effect on 'peak season', the number of tourists is expected to fall by 30% in FY 2019-20. This difficult time is expected to come out in February.
