The assailant, identified as 53-year-old Robert E. Durst, targeted his estranged wife and nine others before taking his own life, as confirmed by authorities.

The rampage commenced at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time when Durst arrived at the business park armed with an assault rifle. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that he unleashed a hail of gunfire, claiming the lives of his estranged wife, 52-year-old Aurora Durst, and their two adult children, 29-year-old Jonathan Durst and 27-year-old Christina Durst. Tragically, the list of victims also includes 52-year-old Alicia Ayers, 58-year-old Denise Peraza, 60-year-old Robert Anderson, 62-year-old Shawnee Consalvo, 66-year-old Michael Ortiz, 68-year-old Olga German, 73-year-old Aurora De La Torre, and 91-year-old Lidia Hernandez.

Durst was eventually found deceased within his car, parked at the business park's lot. Authorities confirmed that he succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While the investigation continues to probe the motive behind this heinous act, preliminary information suggests domestic violence played a significant role. Durst and his wife had been estranged for several months, and he had recently initiated divorce proceedings.
