In the last few years, the mobile network has spread quite rapidly. You can guess from this that 66,690 new towers have been installed in the last one year and today more than 5,90,000 towers are providing uninterrupted connectivity to the general public. A problem has emerged with the expansion of services and that problem is the fraud of towers. Large advertisements are being given in the name of mobile towers and money is being taken from people. These thugs describe themselves as agents of TRAI or IP1 or telecom service providers. Apart from this, pamphlets of fake advertisements are distributed and people make many kinds of offers by making fake calls.

These thugs lash out at high rents, free tower installations, waiving the required fee payment of local municipal bodies, and giving gifts like free mobile phones. In return for this, they ask the property owner to deposit the inheritance amount in their account under the Telecom Act in respect of renting their premises to erect mobile towers. In this way, they also give a fake receipt to the innocent property owner in the name of a fake company representing TRAI or any other infrastructure or telecom service provider. Once paid, these fraudsters disappear and move to another city or place to trap new people.
