The derailment of a goods train near Dittokcherra on Saturday morning at 5.40 am hampered rail connectivity between New Haflong and Badarpur for several hours. After the collision, railway personnel hurried to the scene.
Dragging caused damage to the track and sleepers. Many customers had to cancel their journeys because the railway workers at New Haflong failed to provide adequate information. However, by 9.30 a.m., rail connectivity was restored, and trains continued to operate. Because the phone line was down, proper communication was hindered.
