Dehradun: Due to the Kanwar Yatra, the journey by roadways bus will be expensive. The transport corporation has started preparations for it. As soon as the routes are diverted, the fares will be increased as the distance on the respective routes increases. The maximum crowd during the Kanwar Yatra is on the Doon-Meerut-Delhi highway. Due to this, the route of buses going to Delhi is changed.
The same buses come and go to Delhi via the Panjta Sahib-Karnal route. With the distance from Dehradun to Delhi increased by about 77 km, the corporation will increase the fares of buses by Rs 55 to Rs 100. Under this, in valve buses, where there is a possibility of an increase of up to Rs 100 in fares, the fares of ordinary buses are likely to increase by Rs 55 to Rs 60.
Buses to Delhi as well as Jaipur, Agra, Faridabad, Gurugram, Alwar, etc., are also sent via Karnal. Their rents also increase. The transport corporation management says that as soon as the routes are diverted according to the Kanwar Yatra, the fares are increased according to the increasing distance and the toll on that route. The Corporation is assessing it. The fare hike will be implemented immediately after the route diversion is implemented. This increase will remain applicable only till root diversion. As soon as roadways buses ply on the old route after the completion of the Kanwar Yatra, the fare will also come down as before.
