Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's Oxford Union Debating Society program was cancelled on one occasion. On cancellation of the program, a statement has come from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). The party has expressed its displeasure. A Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP said that this was not the first time. There is some pressure from above.

TMC MP referred to Mamata Banerjee's Chicago event of 2018 which was closed under similar circumstances. According to the West Bengal Home Department, the organizers suddenly demanded a postponement of the program. Citing some unforeseen problems, the organizers spoke of cancelling the program. In the mail sent to the Chief Minister's office by the organizers, it was written that as per the plan this morning, I am once again sending an email to apologize for being unable to proceed.

It is unfortunate that it is written in the mail. All of us were very keen on this program. Our audience sent a lot of questions. Sometimes you just do not work on the situation. I sincerely hope that the honourable Chief Minister will understand this problem.
