Jhansi: A shocking incident occurred on April 29 when Mohammad Arshad, 28, gave triple talaq to his wife, Afsana, 26, on a moving train near Jhansi Junction and then fled the scene. As the train reached Jhansi station, Arshad pronounced triple talaq to his wife, beat her, and then got off the train. Stunned by the sudden turn of events, Afsana contacted the Government Railway Police, who sent her back to Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat, her initial boarding point for Bhopal that day.

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged, and a search was initiated for the accused. Arshad, a computer engineer working with a private firm in Bhopal, had married Afsana, a graduate from Kota, Rajasthan, on January 12 this year. Their marriage was arranged through a matrimonial advertisement.

During a visit to Arshad's ancestral home in Pukhrayan last week, Afsana was shocked to discover that Arshad was already married. When she confronted him, he and his mother began harassing her for dowry, as per the complaint. This harassment continued until Arshad abruptly pronounced triple talaq and then abandoned Afsana on the train. Afsana has since appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for help and urged action against those who divorce women and abandon them.

Based on Afsana's complaint, a case has been registered against her husband Arshad, his maternal uncle Aqeel, father Nafeesul Hasan, and mother Parveen. Circle Officer (CO) Priya Singh assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken.
