At least 31 covid patients fled from a coronavirus care centre in Tripura, after which Tripura police have launched a massive search operation to trace them. It is learnt that Janha had reached Tripura from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal to participate in the recruitment rally of Tripura State Rifles, who have now fled. District Collector of West Tripura district Shailesh Kumar Yadav said he was being treated at a temporary care centre at Panchayat Raj Training Institute (PRTI) in the Arundhatinagar area.

Alert issued to railway officials, police stations: Janha In this regard, he said, "We are informing all police stations about the incident and alerted railway officials as they have come here from other states. We have launched a search operation to trace them.

He said, "Security arrangements were in place at the main gate of the centre but the patients climbed the boundary wall and fled from behind". West Tripura District Collector Shailesh Kumar Yadav said the Centre has 65 beds and 56 coronavirus patients. People coming to Tripura will have to give a negative report of Covid-19 from April 24 otherwise, they are going to be tested for antigen.
