Tripura: About 250 students were taken ill after consuming deworming tablets in various schools in Kadamtala block of North Tripura district on Wednesday.
However, many students complained of pain in abdomen and respiratory trouble after consuming the tablets,” Pradip Acharya, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar, said.
The students were immediately admitted to Kadamtala hospital and medical teams were sent to the block. Most of the students were sent back home after treatment, he said.
Acharya said, only 15 students are still under treatment in hospital, whose condition was stated to be out of danger. The tablets were distributed free by the health department under National Health Mission as part of National Deworming Day programme, he said.
