Hyderabad: Senior leader of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and 76-year-old former Home Minister of Telangana, Naini Narasimha Reddy, died on Thursday. He died in a hospital in Hyderabad last night. Reddy was found to be corona infected on 29 September. However, by beating it, he became healthy.
After the formation of Telangana state in 2014, Reddy became the first home minister of the state. According to information received from hospital sources, he was undergoing treatment for his lung problem after Coronavirus disease. He breathed his last at 12.25 pm after midnight on Wednesday. Reddy was a prominent leader of the Majdar Sangh in Hyderabad and was instrumental in the demonstrations demanding a separate Telangana region.
When Telangana was not separated from Andhra Pradesh, Reddy was also elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly for three terms in the years 1978,1985 and 2004. When TRS formed a government in 2004 in alliance with Congress, the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy worked as a minister in the government.
