Former U.S. President Donald Trump's stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict has shifted to a more ambiguous position, according to a recent report by AFP. Trump, who previously expressed strong support for Israel, now appears uncertain about his stance on the ongoing conflict.

In a recent interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump criticized Israel's handling of the conflict, stating, "I'm not sure that I'm loving the way they're doing it. Israel is absolutely losing the PR." He also expressed concern about the impact of videos showing bombs being dropped on buildings in Gaza, calling it a "very bad picture for the world."

Despite these comments, Trump has not explicitly changed his support for Israel or addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 33,000 lives have been lost, predominantly among women and children, during the six-month conflict.

Experts have warned of starvation and famine in Gaza, along with a high civilian death toll and the loss of aid workers. Trump, however, has not addressed these concerns directly.

During his presidency, Trump took several pro-Israel actions, such as recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocating the U.S. embassy there. He also brokered the Abraham Accords, which normalized Israel's relations with several Arab countries.

It remains unclear whether Trump's recent comments reflect a shift in his policy towards Israel, or if they are influenced by concerns about voter criticism of his opponent's handling of the conflict.

Some observers suggest that Trump's ambiguous stance on Israel may be a deliberate strategy to avoid alienating voters on either extreme of the issue, similar to his approach to other divisive topics like abortion. However, the implications of this stance on his electoral prospects remain uncertain.
