Raipur: Chhattisgarh Panchayat Minister TS Singhdeo has resigned. Singhdeo will continue as a Cabinet Minister in the remaining portfolios in his charge. The news of Singhdeo's resignation has created an uproar in the state. TS Singhdeo has sent his resignation to CM Bhupesh Baghel. In his resignation letter, TS Singhdeo spoke about the decisions taken in the panchayat department and that many decisions were taken without his knowledge. TS Singhdeo, in his resignation letter to the Chief Minister, said that the poor people of the state could not get the benefit of the PM Awas Yojana. Apart from this, he has also talked about the intervention in the MGNREGA scheme.

TS Singhdeo wrote, "Houses were to be given to the homeless persons of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, for which I had talked to you several times and appealed for allocation of funds but the amount could not be made available. Due to this, houses could not be built for 8 lakh people. TS Singhdeo also expressed sadness over the poor people not getting the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.''

Singhdeo wrote, Under the conspiracy, the work of MGNREGA was affected by getting the employment assistants to go on strike, in which the role of assistant project officers (contract) was clearly revealed. A committee was formed by you to satisfy the demands of the striking employees. Even after that, the strike was not called off. Due to the strike, wage payments of about Rs 1250 crore were affected and could not reach the rural economy. Regular Assistant Project Officers were recruited in place of Assistant Project Officers (Contract) with your approval through coordination so that the work of MGNREGA could run smoothly. When our State was in dire need of employment the most, the work was affected by the Assistant Project Officers, while the Employment Assistants wanted to come back to their work. When I got the news that the Assistant Project Officers (Contracts) were being reinstated, I had discussed with you that they should not be re-appointed to the same post. But even after that, they were appointed without my approval, which is not acceptable to me. I am unable to run the Panchayat Department myself in the present circumstances because of the reasons given above. So, I am disassociating myself from the burden of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. I will continue to discharge the portfolios that you have given me.
