Tug Boat Capsizes in Maharashtra's Vaitarna River: 18 Rescued, 2 Missing

Mumbai: In Maharashtra's Palghar district, a tug boat carrying 20 workers capsized in the Vaitarna river on Monday morning, resulting in at least two people missing. The incident unfolded around 6 am while the workers were onboard the tug boat belonging to a company engaged in constructing the JNPT-Vadodara Expressway, which involves the construction of a bridge over the river.

The boat capsized in the middle of the river, causing all the workers aboard to fall into the water. Upon receiving information about the incident, authorities, including the police, fire brigade, and district administration, rushed to the scene. Currently, the rescue operation is in progress, with 18 workers successfully rescued so far.

Local communities and members of the fishing community are also contributing to the ongoing efforts to locate the remaining two individuals who are still missing. The search and rescue operation is a collaborative effort involving various agencies and locals to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the unfortunate incident.
