Vidya Balan-starrer Tumhari Sulu released this Friday with mixed reviews from the critics. However, Vidya Balan’s performance as Sulu is being widely appreciated. Many Bollywood celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Anupam Kher and Aditi Rao Hydari also praised the film. Tumhari Sulu made a decent start at the box office. On its opening, it managed to earn Rs. 2.87 crore.

Tumhari Sulu, revolves around Sulochana also known as 'Sulu' played by Vidya Balan) who is a homemaker with inimitable self confidence and a desire to do more than what her life has offered so far. In a sudden turn of events, she strikes gold when she goes for an audition to become a radio jockey (late-night RJ). Her life takes wings as she juggles with her dichotomous existence as that of a regular mother, wife by day and a successful RJ by night. Balan is supported by actors like Manav Kaul (who plays the role of her husband), Neha Dhupia (head of the radio station), RJ Malishka (a famous RJ and colleague to Balan).

Expected to register robust growth over the weekend," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.Directed by Suresh Triveni, the movie is about a competent woman - essayed by Vidya - who chances upon the opportunity of becoming an RJ and grabs it with both hands. The flick also stars Manav Kaul, Neha Dhupia and RJ Malishka.

Tumhari Sulu faced a clash with Gautam Rode and Zareen Khan-starrer Aksar 2. The romantic-thriller film raked in Rs. 1.44 crore on its opening, comparatively much lesser than Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu.
