Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi summoned the Turkish Ambassador over the Turkish President's comments on his Tunisian counterpart's decision to dissolve parliament, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported.
Jerandi denounced Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement as "unacceptable" intervention in his country's internal affairs during a phone discussion with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday, as per reports.
Erdogan voiced his "regret" that the Tunisian parliament was dissolved, and an investigation was initiated into the MPs who participated in an online session to rescind Tunisian President Kais Saied's ordinances.
On Monday, Saied said that the parliament would be dissolved in order to "preserve the state and its institutions."
