Turkey strikes roughly 500 Kurdish targets in Syria and Iraq

Istanbul: The Turkish army targeted some 500 Kurdish positions in Iraq and Syria in a campaign of airstrikes, according to Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.

During the operation, 254 terrorists have been neutralised, according to Aker, quoted by the official Anadolu news agency.

As part of Operation Panja-Talvar, Ankara launched airstrikes on Sunday.

In defiance of international pressure, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday threatened to launch a ground operation in Syria "with tanks and troops".

The 13 November bombing in Istanbul that killed six people and injured 81 was followed by airstrikes on Turkiye.
Turkey attributed the attack to the PKK, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the US and the European Union.

The bombing was the deadliest in five years, following a wave of attacks in Turkey between 2015 and 2017. The PKK, which has been fighting the Turkish government since 1984, denied any involvement in the bombing.
