New Delhi: Amidst the demand for Bharat Ratna to be given to Veer Savarkar, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi has said that even though Savarkar was not proven guilty in the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, the court did not even call him innocent. In a program, Tusshar Gandhi has said that the court only said that 'we do not have enough evidence'. Tushar said that it is necessary that the real motive and conspiracy behind Bapu's murder is understood.

Tusshar Gandhi has further stated that, even though Savarkar was acquitted in this case, the court never called him innocent. The court has simply said that "we do not have enough evidence to prove him guilty. We must remember this while like-minded people are demanding the Bharat Ratna".

Along with this, Tushar has said, "I think it is necessary that at this time we understand the real intention and conspiracy behind the murder of Bapu while the Bharat Ratna is being given to the guardian of Bapu's murder'. Let us tell you that in Maharashtra, its manifesto has promised to get Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar, after which this new controversy has arisen.
