Chandigarh: The Congress hopes to form the government in the state with the support of most of the independent MLAs from Dushyant Chautala's Janata Jananayak Party (JJP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), even after Haryana lost 14 seats by the majority. Party leaders have given information in this regard on Friday. Senior Congress leader Ambika Soni said that the party will try to form a government in the state. She met the media at Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress here.

Soni was here to hold discussions with senior party leaders on the Congress's stand on big issues such as the Citizenship Amendment Bill, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the crucial winter session of Parliament. During this, former PM Manmohan Singh, former party president Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, Rajeev Satav, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Jairam Ramesh, A.K. Antony, Sushmita Dev, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Ambika Soni, Ahmed Patel, Mallikarjun Kharge, Anand Sharma, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Mohishina Kidwai were also present.

Chaudhary, the party leader in the Lok Sabha, praised the party's performance in Haryana and termed it as 'inspiring'. Maharashtra Screening Committee (MSC) chairman Scindia described the election results in Haryana and Maharashtra as good and congratulated the party workers who worked hard in the assembly elections.
