TV18 Broadcast shares gains despite lower Q2 revenue

TV18 Broadcast Ltd which is engaged in television broadcasting networks, has announced its results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2020, after market hours Tuesday. According to the results, its consolidated operating revenue in Q2FY21 stood at Rs. 1,013-cr versus Rs.1,127-cr in Q2FY20 an undergrowth of 10 percent. For teh first half FY21 the operating revenue stood at Rs. 1,789 cr versus Rs 2,325cr in H1FY20, under -growth of 23pc.  The broadcasting company’s consolidated operating EBITDA for second quarter stood at Rs164cr versus Rs.105-cr, a growth of 56pc on year on year basis. For H1FY21 the EBITDA stood at Rs209cr versus Rs183cr in H1FY20, a growth of 14pc. Operating EBITDA margin for Q2FY21 stood at 16.2pc versus 9.3pc in Q2FY20. Operating EBITDA margin for H1FY21 is 11.7pc versus 7.9pc in H1FY20.

Th company’s businesses volume have recovered from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic to a very large extent. Its proactive measures on cost-control have resulted in much-improved profitability across both News and Entertainment, in spite of certain market segments still suffering from pressures due to the Covid-19 crisis. The Chair man of the Company Adil Zainulbhai,  said, ‘We have ensured business continuity through re-jigging processes, innovatively revived alternative revenue streams, and focusing on aligning content distribution strategy with market opportunity. As we head into festive season, the underlying trends on both viewership and monetization are supportive,” 

During the mid-noon session of trade, shares of TV18 Broadcast quoted higher at Rs 29.90   per share, up by  over 1 percent from its previous closing on the NSE. In comparison Sesex down by 574 points and Nifty down by 151 points.
