Jammu: According to the news just received, on October 18, Twitter displayed the Jio Tag location of Leh-Ladakh on its platform in Jammu and Kashmir, China. After which the Central Government's IT Secretary Ajay Sahni wrote a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsi with a strong warning in this case. The government has lodged an objection to Twitter misrepresenting the map of India. Twitter had presented a clarification before the government on this issue, but now the committee looking into this case says that the clarification of Twitter is insufficient.

The panel's chief Meenakshi Lekhi said, "The committee, in its opinion, is unanimous that the explanation on Twitter showing Ladakh as part of China was inadequate." "As Twitter India officials told the committee today Twitter respects India's sensitivity on this issue but it is inadequate. It is not just a question of sensitivity. It is against India's sovereignty and integrity. Showing Ladakh as part of China is a criminal act, for this crime one may be imprisoned for up to 7 years.

IT Secretary Ajay Sahni had clarified on Twitter in two words that Leh is a part of Union Territory of Ladakh. Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir are integral parts of India, which is governed by the Constitution of India. Sahni has said in unambiguous words to Twitter that the social site has to respect the sentiments of the people of India. He said that the insult done by Twitter with India's sovereignty and integrity will not be accepted. It will also be a violation of the law. The IT secretary wrote in the letter that such actions will not only lead to Twitter's Credibility falls but questions are also raised on the neutrality and impartiality of the social site.
