Meerut: Delhi Police arrested two individuals on Sunday for operating an interstate illegal arms supply cartel in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. The arrested men, identified as Ikram and Mashook Ali, both residents of Meerut, were involved in supplying illegal firearms.

According to authorities, a raid at a house in Meerut led to the discovery of a weapons manufacturing setup, resulting in the seizure of 4 country-made pistols, 41 barrels, and 8 tools used to produce the weapons. The operation was led by Inspector Gaurav Choudhary after police received intelligence about Ikram's plan to deliver illegal arms to criminals in Delhi. Ikram was arrested, and two country-made pistols along with six live cartridges were recovered from him. A case under the Arms Act was registered against Ikram.

Upon interrogation, Ikram revealed that the weapons were sourced from Mashook Ali. Acting on this information and using technical surveillance, police apprehended Mashook Ali in Meerut City. A subsequent raid on an isolated flat in Kashi Ram Colony uncovered a factory where Mashook had been manufacturing illegal firearms. Mashook admitted to producing more than 80 country-made pistols, according to the police. Further investigation into the illegal arms network is ongoing.
