 Yogesh Bhattarai the tourism minister and Giriraj Mani Pokharel has tested positive for the COVID-19 on consecutive days. The first minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to test positive is Yogesh. He hold the culture and aviation portfolio and has informed early that Nepal is corona free, to attract tourism. In a Facebook post, the minister requested his contact to stay alert. According to a report, both the ministers attended Council of Ministers together on Thursday.

"Last Monday, while testing for corona, the report came negative. At that time, I also participated in some programmes outside Kathmandu. I felt a little fever after returning to my residence yesterday Friday evening. I have just received information that the report has been positive while testing for Corona again on Saturday," Bhattarai said in a facebook post. There were no implications except a mild fever. He requested his contacts to test if any problem is found. He even felt sorry for the inconvenience, “I am sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused to anyone. Is there any option other than to be careful and face it when it comes to you?" he added. His recent meetings include, one with the Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra to discuss about ways to promote tourism, including increased flights to remote locations and revival of historically important tourism circuits. He is in self isolation. An embassy spokesperson said his health is normal and he did not develop any symptoms.

Including Prime Minister’s personal physician, personal photographer and media expert, Bhattarai and Pokharel is the ninth close aide of Oli to test positive for the COVID-19. After this, PM office has reported that PM is taking all necessary precautions step and is following health protocols. Nepal's COVID-19 number crossed the 100,000-mark on Friday so far infected 107,750 people and 2,059 new corona virus infections were detected in a single day across the country and the country's death toll stands at 636.
