Both incidents were shared by the NCS on social media. Earlier in the week, Afghanistan had already experienced another earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on Tuesday.
Experts warn that Afghanistan is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes, landslides, and seasonal floods. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) says these disasters put extra pressure on communities already struggling due to years of conflict and underdevelopment.

Afghanistan sits on a major fault line between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, making earthquakes common. The Hindu Kush region, in particular, is known for frequent seismic activity, according to the Red Cross.
