In Chhattisgarh, two elephants have died in a day today. The first death is due to being trapped in the swamp and the other died is due to electrocution. Both cases are being investigated. The first death occurred due to electrocution in Raigad in Chhattisgarh in a forest area in Madamsili of Dhamtari district.

The forest officer who reached the site of the incident confirmed it. Officials said that a few days ago a group of 21 elephants from the Gariaband Mainpur area were roaming in the Duban area of Dhamtari district. Meanwhile, on the night of 15 June, an elephant was trapped in a marsh. After that, he could not get out of there. As soon as the information was received, the Forest Department team reached the spot. The second elephant died due to electrocution in a village in Dharamjigarh in Raigad district. Two people have also been arrested regarding the case and an FIR has been registered against the accused. Simultaneously, an attempt was made to remove the baby elephant from the swamp. During this time, the team took the help of the villagers, but due to the depth, the elephant baby could not get out from there. The team told that postmortem would be done after the body was removed.

The body of an elephant was found in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh earlier, but in this incident, it was not clear that the elephant has died. The cruelty issue with animals was recently raised in Kerala on feeding cracker-filled pineapple to a pregnant elephant. The matter went on social media for a week. People from Bollywood demanded punishment for those accused of feeding pineapples full of crackers to a pregnant elephant. After this, the state government to the central government was alerted. Three accused have also been arrested in this case. These accused told that they had kept pineapple full of crackers not for the elephant but for wild boar. The investigation is still going on on this matter.
