Warangal: The Central Crime Station (CCS) along with the Lingala Ghanpur police have arrested two women on the charges of committing thefts and recovered Rs 24 lakh worth of stolen property including 473 grams of gold ornaments, four cell phones, and a car at Nellutla bypass road under Lingala Ghanpur police station limits on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Akshinthal Sandhya alias Divya alias Rani of Budhavaripet in Kurnool city, and Boya Kavitha of the same locality. Both of them have been residing at LB Nagar, Hyderabad, for some time now.

Disclosing the details at a press conference here on Saturday, Warangal police commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi said that the accused, who used to work as the tailors in Kurnool started committing thefts in the crowded places and autorickshaws. “They travel in the buses and snatch the bags of the passengers in an attempt to steal the cash and gold. Boya Kavitha committed eight thefts since 2005, while Sandhya committed 16 thefts from 2014 to 2019 across the State. They were arrested and released on the bail,” he added. It is said that they had committed another 11 thefts since the last year.
