UAE mourns for three days in honour of the late ruler's brother

Dubai: Following the passing on Thursday of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and brother of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE has proclaimed three days of mourning.

His passing was reported by the state news agency WAM in an obituary notice published by the Presidential Court.

The Presidential Court mandated that flags be flown at half-staff until Saturday.

The Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative was previously listed as having health issues by the Presidential Court.

With the passing of Sheikh Saeed, regional rulers and high-ranking officials have expressed their condolences. Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the seven emirates that make up the UAE have all expressed their sorrow.

After the Dhuhr (noon) prayer, funeral prayers will be said at the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed the First Mosque in Al-Bateen, Abu Dhabi, while funeral prayers in absentia will be said after the Dhuhr (noon) prayer in all mosques across the nation.

Up until Saturday, Al-Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi will be open to accept condolences.
