New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today, January 31, virtually inaugurated IndiaOne Air's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) Flight Operations for Jamshedpur-Kolkata under the UDAN scheme. The Minister praised the inauguration of the route saying that it is a landmark step in regard to the small aircraft scheme.

"A landmark step that we are commencing with inauguration of a route in Jharkhand, especially with regard to the small aircraft scheme introduced in 2022. This is basically for sub-26-seater aircraft, including helicopters," Scindia said after the launch of the commercial flight.

Scindia said that for the first time officially functionalised for scheduled airlines Jamshedpur airport and under the UDAN scheme, there is  viability capital funding which makes it economical for people who travel between the two  cities between a range of Rs 2500-2600 in 9-seater Grand Cessna aircraft. 

"IndiaOne Air is a prime example of how the UDAN Yojana has brought three new airlines to the forefront after 20 years of airlines closing one after the other. Till 2013–2014, there were only 74 airports in the nation; as of now, there are 147 airports. Through the UDAN Yojana, 1.15 crore of these individuals who have never used a flight service have benefited. 2.15 million flights were run, "In his address, Scindia said.

"The entire UDAN 4.2 round is devoted on last-mile and regional connectivity. We have allocated 16 of the 184 routes to helicopters, over 50 to seaplanes, and another 118 to small aircraft. Currently being launched is the Jamshedpur-Kolkata link, which is of utmost importance" Scindia added.
