Mumbai: Sanjay Pandey, the most senior officer of Maharashtra Police, 1986 batch IPS, has gone on leave. He wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and said, "It is time to think whether to return to service or not.'' Sanjay Pandey has written this letter after he was transferred from DG Home Guard to Maharashtra State Security Force (MSF) last Wednesday. Param Bir Singh, who is in the post of Mumbai Commissioner instead of Sanjay Pandey, has been made a Home Guard DG. Param Bir Singh has been removed from office after the arrest of Sachin Vaze in the Antilia case. Sanjay Pandey says, "Any government comes, keeps us in side postings. The present government is also leaving nothing behind to ruin our careers.''

Sanjay Pandey was in Dharavi when he was DCP in 1992-93. He was the first DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) of the zone and despite being a sensitive area, there was no riot during his tenure. During the year 1997, a major scam was praised not just by the common people but by the entire police department. At the instant, Sanjay Pandey says, "I asked for a 20-day holiday. I wrote a personal reason for this. But I have to do the job. One year left for my job. I need time to think about whether I should do a job or not. Mumbai is the only city in India where IPS is appointed in the security forces. It doesn't happen anywhere.''

He also said, "When I took the exam, at that time, I choose my carrier in IPS instead of IFS or IAS. I had to work in the police. But incidentally, I never got a chance to wear a police uniform. I never got a chance of policing. I wanted to take voluntary retirement, I was not allowed to take it too. I fell ill After becoming Joint Commissioner in Vigilance in 2006. I was kept out of the Police service for 4 years. In 2012, when I returned again, found the side posting again. I have had a nearly 20-year side posting job in my career. Pandey has also worked in the Economic Affairs Wing (EOW). meanwhile, He also studied at Harvard.'' He says, "Now he hardly come back to the police force."
